US PIG IRON: Price rebound on shortage

Pig iron import prices in the United States rebounded during the week ended Friday October 18, but more as a result of lower material availability than better demand.

Fastmarkets' price assessment for pig iron, import, cfr Gulf of Mexico, US, was $300-310 per tonne on October 18, up from $290-300 per tonne a week before."Demand in the US is recovering and we see that some market participants who are in need of material are more keen to buy at prices above $300 per tonne [cfr]," one supplier from the CIS said.Some buyers were heard to start negotiations at $300-305 per tonne...
