(IDEX Online) - Jaeger LeCoultre has reworked its iconic Reverso "secret watch" design into a high jewelry necklace set with 3,000 diamonds. The pink gold Art Deco piece was unveiled last week at the Watches & Wonders 2023 salon in Geneva. It has the swivelling Reverso movement that has featured in watches, bracelets, brooches, handbag clips pendants since 1931.That was the year watchmaker Jacques-David LeCoultre took up the challenge of designing a watch that flipped over to prevent damage during a polo game."The Reverso Secret Necklace transforms the design icon into a graceful and exquisitely feminine sautoir, or long necklace," said the Swiss-based maker."There is a long history of secret watches - watches with a gem-set cover hiding the dial until the wearer wishes to read the time. The swiveling case of the Reverso is a twist on this idea, concealing the time when turned over."The watch is positioned upside-down, to make it easier for the wearer to read. It is suspended from a chain of intricate diamond-set links and polished onyx beads, with two pendants of polished onyx.It took 300 hours to set the 3,000 diamonds, with a total weight of approximately 18 carats.
