LIVE FUTURES REPORT 01/09: LME base metal prices up amid high-volume trading; nickel, zinc up 2.5%

Three-month base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were collectively higher during morning trading on Tuesday September 1, with both nickel and zinc prices leading the way with 2.5% increases on high turnover, while positive manufacturing data out of Europe this morning bolstered buying momentum further.

Nickel's outright price on the LME was recently at $15,715 per tonne, climbing 2.58% from Friday's closing price of $15,367 per tonne, while just over 4,000 lots were exchanged as of 10am London time. Similarly, LME zinc's underlying price on the LME was recently trading at $2,578 per tonne, a 2.5% rise from Friday's closing price of $2,515 per tonne, while turnover in LME zinc surpassed 5,600 lots as of 10:10am London time.
