KAZ Minerals to add 80,000 tpy copper to market in 2022 upon Aktogay expansion

Kaz Minerals will invest $1.2 billion in expanding its Aktogay copper processing facility to bring an extra 80,000 tonnes of copper capacity to the market by 2022.

The London-listed company said on December 21 it had approved the construction of a new concentrator, doubling the annual sulphide ore processing capacity at Aktogay in Kazakhstan to 50 million tonnes. Copper production from sulfide ore at the Aktogay facility will rise to around 170,000 tonnes per year in 2022.
