August 2020 - James Rickards is an economist, lawyer, currency expert and investment banker and the author of bestselling books. In his interview with The Capital Network's Executive Director Lelde Smits Jim provides his predictions for the decade ahead and forecasts his pick for the 2020 US presidential election, claiming "I base this on good science and good statistics".

Jim also predicts a depression ahead that will have inter-generational effects: "We will not recover 2019 levels of output until 2023, we will not recover 2019 low levels of unemployment until 2025". Amid such conditions Jim provides his investment recommendations and ratios for holding physical gold bullion and cash, in addition to issuing a warning on which assets to avoid.

Jim Rickards is a lawyer, investment banker and economist with over thirty years' experience in capital markets. He is currently Chief Global Strategist at Meraglim. He advises the Department of Defense, the U.S. intelligence community, and major hedge funds on global finance, and served as a facilitator of the first ever financial war games conducted by the Pentagon. A frequent guest on financial news programs, Rickards is also the author of The New York Times bestselling novels Currency Wars: The Making of the Next Global Crisis and The Death of Money. His latest book is The New Great Depression: Winners and Losers in a Post-Pandemic World.
