New York spot gold rose $9.50 to $1,322.00 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange dropped 9.56 points to 880.38 while the TSX Gold Index added 0.84 point to 198.69. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG), nearly $34 a year ago, continued to struggle. It bucked bullion's trend today, dropping 33 cents to $10.33 on 1.52 million shares. McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) joined the retreat, falling five cents to $2.87 on 634,000 shares. Pure Gold Mines Ltd. (PG) led the advance. It gained seven cents to $3.66 on 722,000 shares.

Ellen Clements's New Nadina Explorations Ltd. (NNA) dropped four cents to 42 cents on 625,000 shares. The stock has settled down after its crash Tuesday, when it fell $2.82 to 48 cents on nearly seven million shares.
