The Metals:

Gold dipped $4.20 to $1271.30 in London before it bounced back to $1276.20 in morning New York trade, but it then fell back off into the close and ended with a loss of 0.47%. Silver slipped to as low as $16.252 and ended unchanged on the day.

Euro gold fell to about EUR1096, platinum gained $1.50 to $867.50, and copper remained at about $3.04.

Gold and silver equities drifted lower in afternoon trade and ended with near 1% losses on the day.

The Markets:

Oil rose almost 2% after The Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 5.9 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 3.3 million barrels, and distillates rose 2.7 million barrels.

The U.S. dollar index waffled near unchanged along with treasuries and the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P as trade war concerns were offset by expectations for policy stimulus from China.

Among the big names making news in the market today were and Starbucks, PayPal, Oracle, and Walt Disney, Fox, and Comcast.
