Battery-grade lithium hydroxide prices in Asia accelerated higher in the week ended Thursday September 9, while lithium carbonate prices were left playing catch-up.

Lithium prices in China rose further on Thursday after available units in the spot market gradually dried up during the usual month-end restocking drive last week. At the same time, a few buyers, who were wary of further price jumps, continued to purchase despite the fact offers had increased significantly over the past week.
"In previous rallies, prices usually rose by several thousand yuan week on week," a consumer said. "But now, prices are rising by tens of thousands on a weekly basis."
