Lithium prices in China continued to rise in the week to Thursday August 26, spurring gains across the globe despite limited spot activity overall.

Battery-grade and technical-grade lithium carbonate prices in China continued to strengthen this past week despite low liquidity. Suppliers were said to be reluctant to make offers for September cargoes, while consumers broadly put off finalizing purchases until next week.
Fastmarkets' assessment of the lithium carbonate 99.5% Li2CO3 min, battery grade, spot price range, ex-works domestic China was 107,500-112,500 yuan ($16,582-17,353) per tonne on Thursday, up by 2,500 yuan (2.3%) per tonne from 105,000-110,000 yuan per tonne a week earlier.
