(IDEX Online) - Fugitive Indian jeweler Mehul Choksi is urging an Indian court to delay the screening of a Netflix documentary called Bad Boy Billionaires, featuring his nephew Nirav Modi. He's petitioned the high court in Delhi to demand sight of the program before it airs, fearful that it might contain material prejudicial to criminal charges against him.He is a key suspect, along with his nephew Nirav Modi, in an alleged $1.85bn fraud against the Punjab National Bank (PNB). He is also alleged to have sold lab-grown diamonds, claiming they were more valuable mined stones.Choksi, 61, (pictured) who owned the now-defunct 4,000-store Gitanjali Group of retail jewelers, is fighting extradition from the West Indies island of Antigua and Barbuda, where he is now a citizen.Bad Boy Billionaires, due to be released on 2 September, examines frauds committed by high-profile business tycoons in India and includes a two-minute piece on Nirav Modi, currently in London, battling moves to extradite him back to India.Choksi's lawyer is arguing the documentary could jeopardize his client's prospects of a free and fair trial. Abrief hearing was adjourned yesterday and is due to resume tomorrow.
