Evraz posts 9.3% surge in Q1 steel product output at CIS assets

Evraz's steel product output at its CIS-based assets surged by 9.3% year on year to 3.12 million tonnes in January-March 2020.

The assets - West Siberian Iron & Steel Works (ZSMK) Nizhniy Tagil Iron & Steel Works (NTMK) and Evraz Caspian Steel - specialize in production of semi-finished steel products as well as railway and construction products.
Of the total, NTMK produced 1,03 million tonnes of steel products 30% more, compared to 794,00 tonnes in the first quarter of 2019.
"NTMK is gradually increasing production. If you look at the dynamics of 2019 you will see a similar picture," a source at the company said, without providing the reason for the growth.
In the third quarter of 2019, when NTMK steel products output increased by 14.8% quarter on quarter to 969,000 tonnes, the company said it was "due to lower re-rolled volumes of slab at the company's North American assets."
