EUROPE HRC: Prices flat; sentiment turns negative

Sentiment in the European hot-rolled coil market turned negative this week due to the downtrend in the global market, falling feedstock prices and competitive import offers, sources told Fastmarkets on Friday August 20.

The post-summer outlook for buyers was largely downbeat, sources said, with HRC prices around the world following this week's sharp decline in iron ore prices.
"Sentiment [in the European HRC market] is negative, especially with HRC prices around the globe seeing a downtrend," a trading source said.

Trading activity in Europe remained quiet on Friday, although this is typical for this time of the year, with fresh offers expected...
