EUROPE HRC: Domestic prices stable in seasonally slow market

Domestic transaction prices for hot-rolled coil have been fairly stable across Europe in the week to Wednesday January 6, with most producers and buyers still out of the market after the holiday period in the region, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets calculated its daily steel hot-rolled coil index, domestic, exw Northern Europe at ?,?666.67 ($818.50) per tonne on Wednesday January 6, up by just ?,?0.42 per tonne from ?,?666.25 per tonne on Tuesday.
The index was, however, up by ?,?1.67 per tonne week on week and by ?,?90 per tonne month on month.
The index was calculated based on achievable prices heard at ?,?660-670 per tonne ex-works.
