Europe high-carbon FeCr price range widens amid signs of recovery

The price spread for Europe-origin high-carbon ferro-chrome widened to $0.15 per lb in the week ended Friday April 24 with deals reported at higher prices after the rebound in the ferro-chrome and charge chrome benchmark price for shipments in the second quarter of the year.

The gap between the highest and lowest reported deal prices was almost $0.20 per lb, with signs of firmer fundamentals encouraging trade sources to expect higher prices in the near term.
Deals for around 100 tonnes were reported at about $0.78-0.80 cents per lb for material containing 60% chromium, while deals for several hundred tonnes were reported at around $0.95-0.97 per lb for material containing some 65% chromium.
These trades came after the announced settlement of the European charge and high carbon ferro-chrome benchmark, which jumped by 13 cents, or 12.9%, to $1.14 per lb for the second quarter of 2020.
