EC's anti-dumping probe into Turkish HRC 'fails to comply with trade agreements'

The recently opened anti-dumping investigation into Turkish exports of hot-rolled coil to the EU fails to comply with the principles of the Customs Union and Free Trade Agreements between Turkey and the European Commission (EC), the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD) told Fastmarkets on Thursday May 21.

The EC started an anti-dumping investigation into imports of hot-rolled coil originating from Turkey on May 14. European steel association Eurofer had lodged a complaint with the EC, alleging that HRC was exported from Turkey at dumped prices in April 2020.
Eurofer has taken a protectionist stance in favor of the EU and has been trying to increase the level of protectionism at every opportunity, TCUD alleged.

"Unfortunately, we see that the EC [responds to] Eurofer's expectations. The Commission appears to be failing to comply with the principles of free and fair trade, and seems to embrace the [kind of] behavior [shown by] the US, which has itself been criticized by the EC," it...
