The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was an 85-85-109 draw. The TSX Venture Exchange added another 18 points to 889 while polished diamond prices gained 0.1 per cent. Dermot Desmond and David Whittle's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) traded briskly, gaining 18 cents to $3.38 on 697,000 shares. There has been no news since the company restructured its debt nearly a month ago.

Brian Testo's Grizzly Discoveries Inc. (GZD), unchanged at 4.5 cents on 20,000 shares, is struggling to readjust its focus. Mr. Testo, the company's Hinton-based president and chief executive officer, created the company to explore Northern Alberta for diamonds in 2004. He shelved the hunt to pursue precious metals near Greenwood in Southern British Columbia when the diamond sector crashed late in 2008. Grizzly shifted its attention back to gems in the summer of 2016, because of what Mr. Testo called renewed interest in diamond exploration. As a result, a majority of the $102,000 that Grizzly spent on exploration in fiscal 2016 went to its diamond project.
