DAILY SCRAP REPORT: Prices slump on sluggish Turkish demand

Turkish deep-sea scrap import prices dropped sharply at the start of the week on news of a fresh Baltic Sea cargo deal, sources told Fastmarkets on Monday April 27.

A steel producer in the Marmara region booked a Baltic Sea cargo comprising 26,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $242 per tonne and 4,000 tonnes of bonus at $252 per tonne cfr.This compares with previous Baltic Sea deals done at $255-256 per tonne cfr for HMS 1&2 (80:20).As a result of the deal, the daily scrap indices were down on Monday.Fastmarkets' daily index for steel scrap, HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix), North Europe origin, cfr Turkey, was $240.37...
