CIS STEEL BILLET: SE Asia, Turkey continue bookings; other markets quiet

New bookings of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)-origin billet in Southeast Asia and Turkey were heard at higher prices in the week to Thursday December 10, while some suppliers were reported to have withdrawn from the market to reconsider prices, sources told Fastmarkets.

A billet cargo originating in Russia was heard booked to Turkey earlier this week at $538 per tonne cfr, which would net back to about $523 per tonne fob Black Sea. The tonnage was not clear at the point of publication.
Offers of steel billet for February shipment from some Russian and Ukrainian producers were heard in the range $530-550 per tonne fob on Thursday.
