Trinidad mine Exploration trip Monday December 3 2007 .http://www.goldhounds.com/ A super exploration trip to the Trinidad Mine, way up the Foresthill Divide and down from the Sailor Flat area. The elevation was about 6200 feet. We wanted to make the trip at this time before the snow set in at this elevation. By tomorrow the area will likely be buried under a foot of new snow. The weather was perfect for this trip and we went right now the long, steep trail to the old mine mill site. The trip was worth it to see this old historic stamp mill, which has two banks of five stamps each in almost perfect condition. The Mother Lode Goldhounds was formed in 1988 by Don Robinson and Ron Stockman. These two founders are professional miners and have each previously served served on the Board of Directors of the Mother Lode Miners Association. As members of the Mother Lode Miners, both men also served as President of that organization.By 1988, the Mother Lode Miners had become a large organization which represented the interests of the professional miners in the Mother Lode.Through their involvement with the Miners Association, Don & Ron became aware that if the problems facing the mining industry about regulations and land use were ever to be resolved, that the informed and involved support of the public was necessary.Noting that the general public was interested in minerals and prospecting as a form of recreation, the founders decided to address the information and educational needs of the public. With that task in mind, Don & Ron formed the Mother Lode Goldhounds Association as an open membership educational association to teach the public about recreational, professional mining and prospecting. We have since grown to 400+ members throughout not only California, but Oregon, Arizona and Nevada. There are also members in other Countries. You too can become a member and share in the fun of recreational Prospecting, Gold Panning, Metal Detecting, Gold extraction that includes:Field Trips, Seminars and Camp Outs.Information on where, what and how ofGold, plus many other subjects.Meet people with similar interests, who love the outdoors and recreationIt will be easier to understand our club by coming to a meeting and seeing what we are about.Meetings are held on the second Friday of the Month at the Veterans Hall in Auburn at 7:00pm.
