Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Sider??rgica Nacional (CSN) maintained its third-quarter sales level after selling its rolling mill in the United States, its Wednesday November 7 earnings report said.
Total sales for the country's third-largest flat steelmaker by volume fell from July to September to 1.29 million tonnes from 1.30 million in the same quarter of 2017, a drop of 0.8%. But while stable flat steel volume accounted for 1.05 million tonnes of the July-September figure, sales from the company's small long steel division fell 26.4% to 53,000 tonnes from 72,000 in the same quarter of 2017. Sales in the Brazilian domestic market rose. CSN sold 912,000 tonnes of steel, up 13.7% from the 802,000 sold in the third quarter of 2017.In the January to September period, Brazil's flat steel apparent consumption rose to 9.54 million tonnes from 8.69 million in the same period of 2017.
