By The End Game Podcast / November 20, 2004 / marketsanity.com / Article Link

Chris Cole of Artemis Capital Management is the latest stellar guest to grace The End Game as he takes Bill and Grant on an extraordinary journey through the many ways in which volatility affects risk assets.

From Golems & Tulpas to the Ouroboros, Chris paints a remarkable picture of the twin realms of fantasy and reality and how they intertwine to create the world around us.

From the option market tail wagging the equity market dog to the assured disaster awaiting the pension fund industry, Chris explains volatility's important role in the present and, importantly, the future.

This is yet another profound, unmissable conversation in the search for The End Game...

Christopher Cole is the Founder & CIO of Artemis Capital Management LP. Mr. Cole's core focus is systematic, quantitative, and behavioral based trading of volatility and derivatives. His decision to form a fund came after achieving significant proprietary returns during the 2008 financial crash trading volatility futures and options (verified by independent auditor). Cole's volatility research is highly influential in derivative and macro trading circles and widely quoted by the financial press. His 2012 research paper entitled, "Volatility at World's End" argued the equity options market was mis-pricing and hedging the wrong tail (left as opposed to right). The paper was credited with re-pricing long-dated volatility, and named one of the best macro-economic thought pieces of the last decade. Mr. Cole is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and in the media. He previously worked in capital markets at Merrill Lynch and structured over $10 billion in derivatives and debt transactions.

Grant Williams is the portfolio manager of the Vulpes Precious Metals Fund and strategy advisor to Vulpes Investment Management in Singapore. Grant has 28 years of experience in finance on the Asian, Australian, European and US markets and has held senior positions at several international investment houses, including Robert Fleming, UBS and Credit Suisse. Since 2009, he has also been writing the popular investment newsletter Things That Make You Go Hmmm...

Bill Fleckenstein is the President of Fleckenstein Capital and writes a popular column 'Contrarian Chronicles' for MSN Money as well as the daily Market Rap column for his website: Fleckenstein Capital. Bill has appeared at one time or another in virtually all financial media including Bloomberg, CNBC, The New York Times, MSN, Marketwatch, Barron's and more. Bill is a highly sought after speaker, successful author of Greenspan's Bubbles: The Age of Ignorance at the Federal Reserve and has been in the financial sector for over 25 years.
