X-ray Reveals Smuggling Suspect's 932 Diamonds

(IDEX Online) - An Indian national is facing up to 18 years in prison after an X-ray revealed 932 bullet diamonds inside his body.The unnamed 48-year-old, described as an accountant, was apprehended by customs officers at the Ngurah Rai International Airport, on the Indonesian island of Bali.He'd arrived from Bangkok, Thailand, intending to sell the 40.73 carats, said Imran Yusuf, of the local Badung prosecutors' office.In a written statement he said: "The foreigner was examined using an X-ray of the abdomen until seven plastic bags filled with diamonds wrapped in condoms were found from inside his anus."He added that the value of import duties and taxes on the stones would have been $6,600.Pic shows Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali.
