Phillips to Open First Gallery in Asia

RAPAPORT...Phillips is set to open a showroom in Hong Kong, reinforcingits commitment to the Asian market. The new space, the auction house's first gallery in Asia,will host regular displays, auction previews, private sales and otherevents, to be led by "Hong Kong. Spotlight. Now.," an exhibition featuring various product types.  The show is scheduled to launch on March 26, to coincidewith the gallery's opening, and will run through April 13. The exhibition will featureinternational artists, watches and jewelry, as well as a preview of thecompany's upcoming Geneva and Hong Kong watch auctions. Phillips has been concentrating on the region since itsfirst Hong Kong sale in 2015, and has recently moved its headquarters there. "Strengthening and expanding Phillips's presence in Asia hasalways been a foremost priority," CEO Edward Dolman said last week. "Suchexponential growth reflects the continued increase in demand and appreciationfor art and culture across the region."
