Diamond Foundry Opens Sales Hub in Dubai

(IDEX Online) - The lab-grown company that boasts Leonardo di Caprio among its high-profile investors has opened a sales and distribution hub in Dubai.Diamond Foundry, was launched as a startup in 2012 by entrepreneurs Martin Roscheisen and Jeremy Scholz in San Francisco, with backing from 10 billionaires, as well as the American actor, producer and environmentalist. It uses solar technology to create sustainable diamonds.The company has located its international base at the DMCC free trade zone, which is also home to the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE).DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) has actively sought to attract laboratory-grown diamonds to Dubai and DDE held its first lab-grown tender - of over 50,000 carats - in May 2019.Ahmed Bin Sulayem, DMCC's executive chairman and chief executive officer, said: "Dubai has become synonymous with innovation and disruption, and having a disruptive company like Diamond Foundry base their international operations in our free zone is a clear testament to that."Attracting businesses that are revolutionizing the diamond sector is proof that we have successfully built an enabling ecosystem for the entire trade - natural and laboratory-grown."Diamond Foundry's big-name investors include eBay founding president Jeff Skoll, Twitter founder Evan Williams and Facebook co-founder Andrew McCollum.
