Diamond miner Alrosa on Thursday sold its Dynasty collection, and its central diamond of the same name, a 51.38-ct round stone, for a total of $10-million.

The first auction for the sale of the collection, held in November 2017, saw four of the five stones sold, with the excess of final prices over reserve prices averaging about 30%.

The Dynasty collection, which took a year and a half to create, comprised five diamonds manufactured from a 179-ct rough diamond, named ‘The Romanovs’.

The Romanovs was a unique rough diamond which was recovered from Nyurbinskaya kimberlite pipe in the Republic of Sakha, in Yakutia, in 2015.

The central diamond of the collection is a 51.38-ct traditional round brilliant-cut diamond, colourless, with no inclusions, and is the purest of all large diamonds manufactured throughout Russian jewellery history, the company said on Friday.

"We are happy to announce the successful sale of the whole Dynasty collection. For Alrosa, it was the first experience of creating our own collection of diamonds, of a road show in different countries worldwide, and of the sale at an electronic platform,” Alrosa CEO Sergey Ivanov commented, adding that the experience has been a success for the company.

The total revenue from the sale of the Dynasty collection amounted to about $10-million, which is in line with Alrosa’s initial estimates.

“We will keep on working and introducing new diamond collections to the market," he added.
