Gold Seeker Weekly Wrap-Up: Gold Dips on the Week While Silver Rises Almost 3%

The Metals:

Gold fell $11 to $1335.00 in late morning New York trade before it bounced back higher at times, but it still ended with a loss of 0.77%. Silver slipped to as low as $17.044 and ended with a loss of 0.7%.

Euro gold fell to about EUR1087, platinum lost $8 to $924, and copper remained at about $3.14.

Gold and silver equities fell nearly 2% in the first hour of trade before they chopped back higher into the close, but they still about 1% lower on the day.

Next week's economic highlights include Existing Home Sales on Monday, S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller HPI, the FHFA House Price Index, New Home Sales, and Consumer Confidence on Tuesday, Initial Jobless Claims, Durable Goods Orders, International Trade in Goods, and Wholesale Inventories on Thursday, and GDP, Chicago PMI, and Consumer Sentiment on Friday.

The Markets:

Oil edged higher after OPEC reported no change to their long-term supply agreements.

The U.S. dollar index rose and treasuries fell as yields climbed higher on inflation concerns.

The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P dropped roughly 1% on renewed concerns about weakness in tech.

Among the big names making news in the market Friday were Apple, Wells Fargo, SunTrust, and GE.
