Rizal Resources Corp. has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed in the Supreme Court of British Columbia by a $1,000-per-day consultant named Gary John Butchart. (All figures are in Australian dollars.) Mr. Butchart claims that he performed services as agreed for the company, but only received part of his fee. He is seeking the court-ordered payment of the remaining $301,000.

The allegations are contained in a brief notice of claim filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Jan. 3, 2018. The suit describes how Rizal hired Mr. Butchart on June 15, 2012. As part of the agreement, Rizal agreed to pay his invoices within 14 days and would pay his expenses. His fee was to be $1,000 per day.

Mr. Butchart says that he subsequently provided professional services, planning the production and maintenance on an underground mine and a mill. He also worked with the local government and helped the mine manager, according to the suit. (The suit does not state where Mr. Butchart worked for Rizal, but in 2012 the company's main project was, and remains, the T'Boli gold mine in the Philippines.)
