(IDEX Online) - Bharat Diamond Week is going digital after organizers were forced to cancel the physical event, scheduled for August, because of coronavirus.

Buyers and sellers at the "diamond-only" show will be able to meet on a secure digital platform.

The Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) canceled the three-day event because of travel restrictions but says it wanted to provide the industry with a much-needed opportunity to resume business.

It had been expecting more than 150 diamond companies to attend its fourth annual show in Mumbai, India.

"Digital platform would definitely give all those buyers an avenue to buy and go on with their respective business," said BDB president Anoop Mehta.
